17th Century Artists: Italians
About time I start bringing these guys up again. In order to get through our horrendous Art History class, Quatsch and I made up some scenarios to shove these guys into because look at them they are hilarious.
Some art historians get so caught up in brushstrokes sometimes that they forget that there were some really awesome, hilarious, and totally real people who made them. :I
IDK that’s just my impression. I kind of hate the discipline of Art History in a lot of ways….
Like how it’s practically “offensive” to call 17th century art “Baroque” (“ornamented”) now, and it’s more politically correct to call it “Early Modern” art. What I don’t understand is that if we’re already at “Post-Modern” now, we are quickly going to forget what Modern is and everything is going to become all kinds of confusing reaaalll fast.
But I dunno I’ve only taken two art history classes I don’t know what I’m talking about. :I
And yes Caravaggio threw artichokes at people and apparently threw rocks at his landlady’s window because she was trying to sue him for cutting a hole in his roof to fit paintings through. He is my hero.
I guess next I’ll be doing artists from France (and Lorraine) and Spain. :P
